US Grand Prix Round up
We go to Mexico
What a crazy weekend! Kimi is not choosin' Texas and instead will take it down to Mexico to wrap up his maiden World Championship. However, his teamate had a dismal day like other teams in other sports (the Carolina Panthers :( ) finishing 8th and was 1 position away from ending his dreams even though they ended in July. Antonelli now needs to finish 9th or higher and for George not to win the race to clinch.
Red Bull Redemption?
Red Bull had an insane start to the weekend finishing 2nd and 3rd in qualifying and had blistering pace down the straights it seemed as though max would come try and to get his third straight win on the season. It didn't look good at all for the 2 drivers as Hadjar fell behind both Ferrari's to push himself down to 5th and Verstappen and got swarmed by them and lost 2nd to Leclerc for 1/2 a lap before ultimately coming back on him.
Then, Verstappen came in early to try pull off an undercut on Antonelli and was successful when Antonelli pit on lap 26. However, Verstappen went onto softs meaning he was going for a 2 stop giving Antonelli a upper hand since he was on a 1 stop. Verstappen was able to pull it home in 3rd after Leclerc was able to catch him again but was blessed by the late VSC since Hamilton was catching at a rapid pace.
Hadjar, however, wasn't as lucky. after getting blitzed by the Ferrari's at the start of the race; he came into the pits sitting in 2nd and fell down to 6th which isn't terrible until going through the esses he only had no throttle so was so slow but that didn't stop him from putting in a semi decent drive. He was perfect when defending against almost anyone but was able to keep his streak going of having a P6 in 8 of the last 9 Grand Prix's.
I believe what Red Bull are currently building could lead to them dominating F1 once again.
Ferrari Pace
Ferrari also had a ton of pace this weekend. With Leclerc and Hamilton qualifing 4th and 5th and topping all 3 practice sessions; going into the race it looked as though Ferrari had a chance to do something huge.
That seemed possible as the lights went out and both Ferrari's swarmed Verstappen's mirrors and Leclerc came through while there was a ton of pressure from Hamilton but we couldn't get through. Leclerc was eventually overtaken by Verstappen to go back down to 3rd.
Nothing really happened witgh the 2 of them until the final 10 laps where Leclerc who was in 4th closed the gap on Norris and Verstappen to give a fight 3 way fight for 2nd. Leclerc came out on top finishing 2nd while Hamilton overtook Norris to come home in P4.
This is something new I'm going to start doing! Driver of The Day, I know it already exists but I feel as though letting the fans pick can lead biased picks and Max Verstappen winning 8 times this season. So the Ingurial DOTD of the day is... Charles Leclerc!
He was awesome tonight and had a near perfect race but I have already broke it down so I am not going into depth. Norris was a close second but if he pulled off the podium he would have got it but he went down into 5th
That is a wrap for the US GP roundup I'll write next week after the Mexican GP. Goodbye!
